About Carol

Carol’s passion for sewing and color started when she was 11 years old. She took her first sewing class at Singer where she learned all about patterns and garment construction. This is when Carol began playing with fabrics and color and creating her own personalized wardrobe! Later in life, being a mother of three, sewing became a very practical, money saving skill making window treatments, slipcovers and other home dec projects! It wasn’t until 1987 that she caught the quilting bug, which started out as a deep appreciation of the quilts made for her children by their paternal grandmother, Voncile. Through the following years, the appreciation of quilting grew into a “full-blown addiction!”

After moving to Georgia in 2006 from Connecticut, Carol started working in a Marietta quilt shop on weekends for several years, where she realized how much she enjoyed helping customers select fabrics and solve quilting dilemmas. Because of this, and her love of the creativity in quilting, Carol attended Sulky’s Teacher Certification Class in 2009 and 2010. Since then, Carol has been teaching quilting, landscapes and thread embellishing classes to all ages and skill levels.

Carol took her first Judy Niemeyer class in 2013 and made the Arizona Cactus quilt. Since then she has been hooked on Quiltworx patterns taking more classes with Judy Niemeyer. In August 2014 Carol attended the Quiltworx Pre-Certification Instructor Training in Kalispell, Montana with Judy Niemeyer and worked towards becoming a Judy Niemeyer Quiltworx Certified Instructor. On September 1, 2015 Carol became a Certified Instructor!

Carol also teaches Deb Heatherly’s patterns using the Creative Grids tools designed by Deb. These tools make quiltmaking more perfect because the tools trim your quilt block to the correct size using your sewing line, because everyone’s quarter inch varies!

Because of the love of foundation paper piecing and the need to be challenged, Carol started taking classes with Jacqueline de Jonge, designer of BeColourful quilt patterns. She is teaching beginning classes and working towards becoming an Authorized Instructor for BeColourful Quilts.
